All Work And No Play

I was out to lunch with my parents, literally not figuratively, and after discussing the list I decided that I was selling myself short on the pampering and sheer enjoyment side.  Perhaps it was the cosseted influence of my folks or the indulgent effects of fine food and beer.  Either way, the list expanded in a more pleasurable direction as follows.

Provisional task 18 was Cook – to complete a cookery course adding to my well practiced, if slightly narrow, talents revolving around rice and pork.  Which possibly demonstrates the potential difficulties I may face in the Duck and Cake tasks.  Some might say that I’m being too self-deprecating here, but such a course would at least prove them right or wrong.

And so to beer.  Which will probably be a welcome return after setting concrete dates for Abstain a couple of posts ago.  Briefly, my past has been more closely entwined with the brown frothy stuff than that of many other people.  My parents association with the Campaign for Real Ale set my drinking compass firmly in the direction of cellar cool, naturally brewed ale.  Ultra frozen, carbon dioxide spiked, chemical laden rubbish can, quite frankly, **** off.  So I should set a task to put my malt where my mouth is: Brew – make my own home brewed ale.  My housemate is going to love that one.

5.00pm...

Playtime: 5.00pm...

...5.09pm

...5.09pm

I’m warming to the indulgence theme so I will add Dine before my selflessness catches up with me.  The task (if I may call it that) will be to eat in three establishments owned by well-known chefs.  At least it presents the twin challenges of booking and paying.

Before being hit by a ripple of penitence I’ll go the whole hog, and set myself the task (for want of a better word) of Relax – book myself into a spa and receive a soothing massage befitting the hectic schedule that I am in the process of setting myself.  Hell, if I don’t deserve it now, I soon will.
