The Provisionals

With two thirds of the list done I am open to suggestions – so far I’ve covered everything that I’d genuinely, and realistically, like to attempt, but that doesn’t mean that some undiscovered gems aren’t out there.  But before declaring open house I’ve added some possibilities which currently deserve a place, but could still step aside before the final end-of-January reckoning.

As suggested by my Mum, who enjoys her cliff-top walks, we have Hike – walking the South West coast path would be a pleasant summer task, but could I seriously have a crack at the whole Dorset – North Devon route?

As if that’s not challenging in terms of time and application, how about Strum – learn to play the guitar.  My thanks initially to Colin for the loan of an acoustic and a lesson in the basics and I now have January to practice and see if this is a feasible challenge.  I suppose it depends on how high I set my sights: is Wembley available in mid-November?

If the previous provisional tasks may leave me dangerously time poor, this could simply make me poor poor: Aurora – see the Northern Lights.  Something many would like to do of course, but a step too far this year?

As a… er… trained athlete (!) strength and stamina are second nature, but one aspect of general fitness that has forever eluded me is flexibility.  I am about as supple as dried pasta.  So a useful task, time allowing, would be to get through a Yoga course without breaking into pieces: the provisional task of Flex.

Susie was left with nothing but regrets when the wind changed direction.

Twisted: Susie was left with nothing but regrets when the wind changed direction.

Finally for now, and something I really should do at some point is the task of Blood – to sign up for platelet donation.  Having been a blood donor for nearly 10 years I was recently told that my claret is ‘special’ and would be suitable for donating platelets – a type of blood cell often transfused after a major injury or surgery.  Lack of time seems like a weak excuse to discard this task, but the final decision will be made this month.

If these were all included I believe I’d be biting off more than I could chew, so, if anyone’s out there, let’s be having some suggestions…
